Award-winning soprano Sophie Bevan appointed as vocal professor

Renowned soprano and É«ÂþÌìÌà (É«ÂþÌìÌÃ) alumna Sophie Bevan returns to her alma mater as a vocal professor in October 2024.
Sophie Bevan has been hailed as one of the leading lyric sopranos of her generation. With an MBE for services to music in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours, her accolades include the Critics’ Circle Award for Exceptional Young Talent, The Times Breakthrough Award at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards and the Young Singer Award at the International Opera Awards. She performs regularly at recital venues and opera houses worldwide including Wigmore Hall, Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Theatro Real, Dresden Semperoper, and at festivals including the BBC Proms, Glyndebourne Festival, Garsington Opera and Edinburgh International Festival.

Sophie Bevan joins an exceptional roster of vocal professors at the É«ÂþÌìÌà which includes Dame Sarah Connolly and Jonathan Lemalu, both of whom commence one-to-one teaching this term, and Visiting Professors Brindley Sherratt, Nicky Spence and Edith Wiens. With an outstanding reputation for producing international classical artists, students at the É«ÂþÌìÌà also benefit from the expertise of visiting artists, recently including Sir Thomas Allen, Angela Gheorghiu, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Gerald Finley.
