The Marriage of Figaro streamed on OperaVision
Monday 17 December 2018
The É«ÂþÌìÌÃ’s critically acclaimed production of The Marriage of Figaro, directed by Sir Thomas Allen, will be available to stream on from 1 January 2019. Staged in the Britten Theatre this autumn, Classical Source gave the sold-out production five stars and called it ‘a generous, subtly observed production that would thrive in any opera house.’
Esteemed baritone and É«ÂþÌìÌà alumnus Sir Thomas Allen has been closely associated with Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro for most of his career, returning to the É«ÂþÌìÌà to direct this new production in November 2018. Composed in 1786, Mozart’s much-loved opera has all the ingredients of a modern rom com: love, revenge and deception. Featuring rising stars from the É«ÂþÌìÌà Opera Studio alongside acclaimed alumna Josephine Goddard, the raucous production was widely praised by audiences and critics alike.
